About the Client

The client, a real estate investment trust (REIT) headquartered in N.Y. is one of North America’s publicly traded owners and operators of open-air, grocery-anchored shopping centers, and mixed-use assets. The company has specialized in shopping center acquisitions, development, and management for the last few decades.

Business Challenge

Scalability and high availability of business application

The client had a legacy solution that was the backbone of its business operations. The business-critical applications, including lease management systems used by sales, operations, and other departments, were run on a private data center. The legacy solution presented many security risks as well. Additionally, much of the maintenance activities were manual.

The client needed a solution/setup that would meet the projected growth in the business & users.

Trigent Solution

Seamless Migration to Microsoft Azure Cloud

The client partnered with Trigent to augment their IT infrastructure. The team conducted a thorough assessment of the client’s data center, evaluating applications, operating systems, security considerations, and resource utilization.

Trigent designed new security models and cloud-native backup and recovery processes. They also developed a migration strategy that rehosted (lift-and-shift) most applications while selectively re-architecting others. To improve business agility, cost optimization, and ease of maintenance, workloads were migrated to the Azure cloud environment.

By leveraging Azure services for compute, storage, networking, and security—along with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework—the client achieved improved agility, governance, and cost efficiency.

Azure migration benefits

Trigent’s cloud experts also created a detailed infrastructure inventory by analyzing:

  • Existing hardware (servers, load balancers, storage devices)
  • Operating systems and security configurations
  • Application performance and dependencies
  • Storage utilization and setup
  • Backup and disaster recovery mechanisms
  • Secure access and authentication systems

The tech stack included Virtual Machines, Blob Storage, Active Directory, CDN, IAM, Azure Functions, Web Apps, SQL Server, and applications built using .NET, C#, and IIS—ensuring a seamless migration to Microsoft Azure.

Summary

Trigent effortlessly moved our business-critical workload to Microsoft Azure, which significantly improved application performance and business agility.
