About 1000 users spread across different business divisions were using the system to create, add, replace parts, manage parts approval, and search for parts information. The system was heavily customized to suit the manufacturer’s content and workflow needs. It had already reached the limits beyond which further modifications or integrations would have a detrimental effect. While the system was functional, the high maintenance costs became a concern. With the contract set to expire in a few months, the client recognized it was time to look for alternative solutions.

In the context of online shopping, product returns have long been accepted as an unavoidable part of the business. But our client, a fashion accessories retailer, believed their customers should be able to select a perfect fitting footwear from the comfort of their homes, and that would effectively minimize the likelihood of returns.
